Il fait si froid, dehors; ici c`est confortable: Deux

So it's a little bit chilly here: -3 out right now, with a low today of -20 and wind chills of -40. For you Celsius people: that's -19C right now, with a low of -29 and wind chills of -40. School is canceled, which is the fun part of the show, since frost bite sets in at this temperature in one minute.

Il fait si froid, dehors; ici c`est confortable.

I must say that Chloe has cool taste in music for a three year old. Her current favorite artist is Edith Piaf, favorite song "Milord." She can sing it well, too (I tried to sing it with her, but she corrects me-- "No, Mama, 'vous asseoir à ma table.'" On a related note, I am noticing more and more little bits of French that Chloe knows that I don't--it's amazing). Other top songs: "Miss you" (by The Rolling Stones), "Brave Margot" (by Georges Brassens), "Because," and "Here Comes the Sun."

We went to the Milwaukee Public Museum yesterday with Sophie and Kristin, and I was amazed at how much Chloe loved it. She was terrified of the butterfly room (there are butterflies flying all around and landing on you--not Chloe's cup of tea), but loved everything else. I think her favorite was Old World Milwaukee, where you can pear into the windows of fake immigrant houses and shops from about 120 years ago. Check out flickr for a few more pics!

Tonton Joel a donné un appareil photos à Chloé pour Noël. Chloé a pris plus de 80 photos en moins de 24 heures. Elles sont compilées dans le videoclip ci-dessous.

Uncle Joel gave Chloe a camera for Christmas. Chloé took more than 80 pictures in less than 24 hours. The pictures are compiled in the video below.

Le Chouchou

Chloe got many great presents for Christmas, but I think one of her favorites is her vtech camera from Uncle Joel. She had a great time taking pictures, she took 87 of them today, and I added a collection to my flickr page so you could see them. I didn't put all of them up, but if I did, you would clearly see that her favorite subject is Tonton Jean-Paul. Maybe 65 of the pictures were of him...? They provide a close study of his sweater, face, and hands. It's really fun to see how she sees the world.

A Noël: les invitées, la neige, et une marionnette

Okay Frenchies, time to get to work figuring out that title...

Long time, no blog, because life has been busy, busy, busy. Papy and Mamie came for three and a half weeks to watch the girls while I worked on my library practicum. The girls had a great time; Margot took to Mamie and Papy right away. As always, it was hard to say goodbye. But Chloe is already talking about going to Preguillac next summer, where she is very excited to be able to share a room with Margot again (they shared while P&M were here).

And they'll be sharing again tonight because Jean Paul is coming for a week! Uncle Joel will be back in Wisconsin, too, come Christmas night! Hopefully all travels will go well despite the constant snow...we have at least a foot and a half with more forecasted for tomorrow.

Check out my mega flickr update, complete with my photos and Papy's photos from the last month. You may also want to check out my Dad's flickr page. The picture up above is a sneak peak of the goods he's got.

By the way, Chloe is so excited for Christmas. She wants a bunny (did you put her up to that, Dad?) and to wake up and find lots of candy canes in her sock puppet (known as a Christmas stocking to everyone else).

Happy holidays, everyone!

Un weekend de "premier fois"

I took Chloe to her first movie in the theaters on Friday night. We saw Madagascar 2. She was spellbound the entire time. Then we had dinner out afterward, just to two of us. It was great Mama-Chloe time. The night before, Jerome took Chloe to her first concert, too (one at his school).

Tonight, the girls took their first bath together--they had so much fun. I love to watch the two of them together. No one makes Margot laugh like Chloe; Margot is just delighted by Chloe's attention. And having Margot has made me see a new, beautiful quality in Chloe: she is such a natural caretaker. She loves to be the big sister and help Margot with anything and everything. I'll put pictures up on flickr soon.

Une dent de lait

Margot's first baby tooth came in today! Pauvre Margot: in addition to the pain of teething, she has a cold too. But she is still such a sweet, smiley baby...I'm a lucky mama!
